Overview

WaypointNomad (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a community map app for digital nomads. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Waypoint Nomad app.

Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Username (chosen by you or auto-generated — no real name required)
• Waypoints you drop (title, note, location, category)
• Comments you post on waypoints
• Check-ins at locations

Information collected automatically:

• Anonymous user ID (generated on first launch, not linked to your identity)
• Approximate location (only when you grant permission, used to show nearby pins)
• Device type and app version (for crash reporting)

How We Use Your Information

• To display your waypoints and comments on the community map
• To show you pins near your location
• To calculate upvote rankings and top contributor status
• To process subscription payments (handled by Apple’s App Store)

Data Storage

Your waypoints, comments, and check-ins are stored in Google Firebase Firestore. Your username and anonymous user ID are stored locally on your device.

Third-Party Services

• Google Firebase — stores community pin data
• Apple App Store — handles all subscription payments and billing
• RevenueCat — manages subscription status (no personal data shared)
• Apple Maps — provides map tiles (subject to Apple’s privacy policy)

Location Data

Location access is optional. We use your location only to show nearby waypoints and to auto-fill location fields when dropping a pin. We do not store your precise location history.

Subscriptions

All payments are processed by Apple. We do not collect or store any payment information. Subscription management is handled through your Apple ID.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your information with third parties except as described above (Firebase, RevenueCat, Apple Maps) which are necessary to operate the app.

Your Rights

You can delete your waypoints and comments at any time within the app. For account deletion requests, see our Support page.

Children’s Privacy

Waypoint Nomad is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
